The Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto has an annual design challenge were numerous business and design universities compete to solve a business problem. This year’s challenge is for Kingspan, the global leader in high performance insulation and building envelope solutions. Their question is ‘How can we disrupt our own business model to become the leader in the future of digital construction?’
On the initiative of the UF Fund and Giulia Calabretta, we decided to apply for this challenge.
After handing in our application video, the intense waiting and selection process started.
Finally, on the 12th of January we got news!
On the 9th and 10th of February we; Chiara Marradi, Gustavo Zepeda, Jelle Dott, Kate Smith, Lucia Tramutola and Marie Van den Bergh will be participating in the Rotman Design Challenge in Toronto, Canada.
Our team, together with 30 other teams from numerous (renowned) business and design universities, will be competing on creating the best business concept/strategy for Kingspan. During our stay in Toronto we will be pitching the strategy and prove that SPD is a force to be reckoned with.
We are happy to have to chance to take part in this challenge thanks to the funding from the Delft University Fund, our IDE Faculty Dean, Ena Voûte and Giulia Calabretta.
We are currently working hard to finish the research phase so that we can start framing and solving in order to be able to present the first draft of our concept idea on the 7th of February.
We will keep you posted on our developments of the challenge.
